WIP Presentation – Illness

I was supposed to give my Work In Progress presentation this week, but I was really ill with a fever. The doctor thinks it was some sort of virus. Whatever it was, it managed to keep me in bed for four days and made me collapse and pass out twice – not fun!
Thankfully, I’ve been able to reschedule my presentation for after Easter. This has set my work schedule back somewhat, and I’ve been unable to get anything done this week. This is one of the issues that I hadn’t really considered affecting my project, but now that it has happened I’ll be mindful of its potential to happen in the future.

MS Project – To Do List

I’m finding that I’m not using my project plan quite as much as I would have hoped, but am instead making tons of endless to-do lists. I definitely need to start utilising my project plan as essentially it is a giant, more complex, to-do list. I order to do this, I’ve printed out one of the unfinished task reports available to me within MS Project. I now have a comprehensive list of what needs to be done, when for and how these are interlinked with other parts of the project. I did find it fairly frustrating that a lot of the reports available in MS Project weren’t quite what I wanted and included far too much pointless information that’s didn’t need to waste paper on. I managed to create my own customised task list, which included all remaining unfinished tasks.

Evolving Design

The project is evolving away from the split website, which would offer a part for adults and a part for kids. Instead, I am going to combine the best ideas from these sections and provide activity ideas, such as recipes, gardening and building your own bee house, which adults can involve children in. All will be accessible from a main menu page.
